TROUT FISHING

The Assynt Foundation estate offer some of the very finest trout fishing in Britain.
All fishing on the estate is managed by the Assynt Angling Group, a unique partnership of landowners and local anglers which forms one of the biggest single areas of brown trout fishing to be accessible with one single permit, in the whole of Britain and perhaps Europe.
Permits can be purchased through the Assynt Foundation or a number of other local retailers, with a single ticket allowing fishing on around two hundred lochs and lochans in Assynt.

The area has a Fisheries Protection Order, an indication of the high quality of trout fishing to be had here. Consent is obtained in the form of a permit, which covers all brown trout fishing in the area managed by the A.A.G.

Brown trout permits cost from £5 per person per day, or £25 per week. They can be obtained from the Assynt Foundation office at Glencanisp Lodge, also from many local businesses including the Lochinver Post Office, Achin's Bookshop and the Assynt Visitor Centre. Boats are available on many lochs, for £10 (up to three people per
boat), and £8-10 for hire of an engine.
Fishing on the North Assynt Estate is offered by the Assynt Crofters Trust and is not part of the Assynt Angling Group fisheries.
Package deals can be arranged for fishing groups of up to 20 or more people, with accommodation provided at Glencanisp lodge, and permits and boats included in the overall price. Please contact us if interested.
Fly rod and reel hire is also available (see equipment hire page).

The brown trout fishing season runs from March 15th to October 7th.
