TROUT FISHING
The Assynt Foundation's trout fishing and that of the other Assynt estates (except the North Assynt Estate fisheries which fall under the jurisdiction of the Assynt Crofters Trust)are managed by the umbrella organisation, the Assynt Angling Group, a unique partnership of landowners and local anglers, formed in the year 2000, creating one of the biggest single areas of brown trout fishing to be accessible with one single permit, in the whole of Britain and perhaps Europe.

The area has a recently renewed Fisheries Protection Order, an indication of the high quality of trout fishing to be had here. Consent is obtained in the form of a permit, which covers all brown trout fishing in the area managed by the A.A.G.
Brown trout permits cost £5 per person per day, or £25 per week. They can be obtained from the Assynt Foundation office at Glencanisp Lodge, also from many local businesses including the Lochinver Post Office, Achin's Bookshop and the Assynt Visitor Centre. Boats are available on many lochs, for £10 (up to three people per
boat), and £8-10 for hire of an engine.
Package deals can be arranged for fishing groups of up to 20 or more people, with accommodation provided at Glencanisp lodge, and permits and boats included in the overall price. Please contact us if interested. We can be flexible to suit your needs.
Fly rod and reel hire is also available (see equipment hire page).
The brown trout fishing season runs from March 15th to October 7th.
