Project Officer’s Report Nov 08

Redevelopment Project

Matheson MacKenzie Ross are to be appointed as design team for Lodge Redevelopment. Works are now expected to go on until November 09.

Log building and log building training course
It’s been suggested that the log training course and creation of log building/s be taken out of the main works contract for the redevelopment. The suggestion is that the training course would then just be used to create the simple studio building. The laundry/boiler house would then be built timber clad rather than whole log, and would be included in the main contract.
If this is agreed by the board, the log construction course could then potentially go ahead in advance of the main works, (dependent upon groundworks for the studio building).

Other stuff:

HIE Growth Plan:
A draft HIE Growth Plan was presented at a meeting on Monday 17th November, attended by Don, Pat, Claire, Neil Gerrard and Anne Sutherland.
For any item they may be willing to part-fund, we would need to have a means of demonstrating how money is being made (or saved) through that item.
It was agreed that venison processing is the top priority. The first step is for HIE to source a suitable consultant to produce a report on for this. It was agreed to include processing (and sale) of other meats in the study.

Housing: We now have full funding for the full feasibility study for the Glen Canisp affordable housing plans. Ronnie MacRae of HSCHT should contact us soon following further discussions between him and HC.
