Project/Marketing Officer’s Report August 07

Lodge Bookings
Due to late availability, a number of smaller groups are being accommodated in the lodge this next three weeks.
Also some good bookings coming through now for 08, with deposits.
A small group hired the lodge 30th July – 6th August for £1000 (very late availability booking). They also hired fly rods and reels recently purchased from AAG.
Camera Stalking
Response, through Jenny Glumhoff of VisitScotland, to camera stalking, since being advertised on website. Thanks to Mark for liaising, facilitating, enabling, etc. with this. An article has been written. Can’t yet find it on-line anywhere yet. I’ll check with Jenny where and when it will come out. May be paper only.
Stalking
Getting close to maximum stags we can sell. Further requests for stags are still coming in. Foot and mouth disease restrictions temporarily meant we couldn’t move carcases off the estate. This has now been lifted, as of Friday. Price for venison is very good (relatively) at the moment. Will have to watch the situation, re FMD.
Website
Lists of directors now up, among other things. Map of estates improved (Glencansip typo removed from jpeg using trial photoshop). Links to Skerray community ownership steering group and a few others added.
A small link on bottom of AF homepage, for a year, would get us £360. This, and perhaps sponsored links generally, to be discussed, either at meeting hopefully, or else in advance on email(?).
Renewables
ACC to ask AEDG to form the group to investigate options for a community-owned renewable energy scheme in Assynt.
Further stuff
A while ago we had an enquiry about a possible space for painting. Since the Boathouse is now being used as accommodation by trainee stalkers, outbuildings are limited. Anyone got any bright ideas? It would be good to have something to offer if just in the foreseeable future rather than very soon.
Skerray folk are keen to visit us to learn about community ownership. Last word was me telling them we were probably flexible enough date-wise. Could be soon.
Pigs: the fully amphibeous piggies are scaring fishermen and chasing their boats. Some action of some sort, even if just signs warning people / telling them what to do if 4 pigs try to board your vessel, left in the boats, would probably be appropriate.
